Arrival

Information, tips, and guidance for a successful stay in a Laplandway holiday home or cabin.

When can I check-in?

The apartment is available from 4:00 PM upon your arrival. Early check-in at 2:00 PM is available as an additional service when booking accommodation.

Keys

The key to the cabin is in a key box next to the front door. The code has been sent to you via email. The code should be entered in the middle row, after which the box opens by pressing a small lever downward or by simultaneously pressing buttons on both sides (see the picture below). Please leave the key in the same place when you leave and make sure the box is securely closed. Finally, mix up the number sequence.

Early arrival

Check-in is generally after 4:00 PM to allow the previous guest to have privacy and ensure sufficient time for cabin inspection if necessary. If you want early check-in (14.00) it can be bought as an addiotional service for 20€.

Location

Check the exact location details from the instructions sent via email or Airbnb. Each holiday home's front door has a silver sign that reads "Laplandway" and the name of the property. Below are location maps to navigate the destination.

Bed linen and towels

The property has pillows, blankets, and mattresses. You should bring sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, and towels. Additionally, bring kitchen towels and hand towels if needed. Bed linens and towels can also be rented. If you wish to rent bed linens, please inform us at least a week before arrival.

Late arrival

Check-in is self-service and can be done even in the middle of the night. Please note that our customer service is available until 9:00 PM.

At the destination

Heating and temperature

The apartments have either electric heating with underfloor heating in the bathroom or floor heating throughout the entire cabin. The heating is generally set correctly, so there is no need to adjust it. A comfortable room temperature is around 21 degrees Celsius, and in the bedroom, it's 19 degrees. If the temperature is higher, consider lowering it.

Firewood

Firewood is available in an indoor wood basket and more in an outdoor storage. If you use wood, refill the basket for the next guest.

Wifi

Our properties have wireless internet. The network name and the password can be found in the instruction email, Airbnb message or on the Laplandway board on-site. If, for some reason, the wireless network isn't functioning, please follow these steps: Disconnect the power cord of your device from the wall socket and reconnect it. If this doesn't resolve the issue, resetting the device may help.

Dishwashing

Most holiday homes have a dishwasher. Remember to open the faucet before starting the machine (see picture below). Close the faucet after use before leaving.

Snowfall

In case of unexpected snowfall, a small snow shovel is available in the storage. If the yard needs plowing, the property management will take care of it promptly.

Drying clothes

In most properties, there is a drying cabinet for clothes. You can adjust drying time and temperature from the control panel (see picture below).

Safety

Cabins are equipped with a smoke detector and firefighting equipment in case of a fire.

Remote work

Our properties are compact, and there are no dedicated workstations. However, internet access and a good dining table allow flexible work. In the resort centers, there are various remote workspaces that you can use.

Grocery bag

Each holiday home has a Laplandway reusable bag for shopping. Please leave the bag on the coat rack for the next guests when you leave.

Appliances

Appliances are in working condition when you arrive. If you need instructions for using the appliances, you can find them in the kitchen cabinet, cleaning cabinet, or between the pages of the cabin book. If it looks like a machine is not working, contact us, and we will be happy to help.

Sauna heater / stove

The sauna operates on electricity. When turning on the sauna, the heating temporarily stops in the rest of the apartment (especially in very cold weather). Detailed sauna usage instructions: HEATING THE STOVE: The stove is controlled by a timer (see picture below): 0 position: power is off, the stove does not heat up Range 1-4 hours (A): the stove starts heating immediately and stays warm for the selected time in hours (h) Range 1-8 hours (B): Timer mode. For example, by choosing 4, the stove turns on 4 hours later and stays warm for 4 hours unless manually turned off earlier TEMPERATURE: Adjust the thermostat by turning the knob to the desired position. TURNING OFF THE STOVE: Turn the timer switch counterclockwise to the 0 position. Please turn off the sauna immediately after use so that the electric heaters turn back on. Column Stove Usage: Turn on the power in the bottom left corner. + / - temperature adjustment. Upper right corner for changing the timer / temperature.

Fireplace

The cabin has a fireplace for additional warmth and atmosphere. When using the fireplace, make sure the chimney damper is open (pulled out) and the kitchen exhaust fan is completely turned off (see picture below). Turning off the kitchen exhaust fan is crucial; otherwise, negative pressure in the apartment will draw all smoke inside. The tenant is responsible for any damage caused by misuse of the fireplace, such as smoke damage to the apartment surfaces. When using the fireplace in the Lumikuru cabin, the fireplace function must be activated from the ventilation machine. Dispose of fireplace ashes in the metal bucket next to the front door. If the bucket is full, dispose of the cooled ash neatly in mixed waste. You will find detailed instructions for using the fireplace on the plaque above the fireplace or in the cabin guidebook.

Waste sorting and fireplace ash

There is a waste bin for garbage outside. Sort different waste categories as needed, either in the general collection points of the tourist center or in the property's own bins, if available. Dispose of fireplace ashes in the metal bucket next to the front door. If the bucket is full, you can empty the cooled ashes neatly in mixed waste.

Laundry

Some of our properties have a washing machine. When starting the laundry, make sure the faucet is open for smooth washing (see picture below). If it seems the machine is not starting, usually the faucet is closed. Bring your own laundry detergent.

Parking

A numbered parking space is provided for the car, depending on the property. Park your car only in the designated space so that snowplows and other cars can move around.

Locking the door

Ensure that the door lock button is up and push the door inward.

Sledge and outdoor equipment

Each property's storage has various recreational equipment, from sleds to kick sleds. Check out the storage for assistance with activities. In the Kuerkarltio holiday village in Ylläs, there are also communal bicycles and other recreational equipment available for borrowing. Inquire at the holiday village reception (building on the lower slope).

Upon departure

When should I vacate the cabin?

Check-out is at 11:00 AM. Late check-out at 1:00 PM is available as an additional service (20€) when booking accommodation.

As a result of successful cleaning, the apartment should be at least as tidy as it was when you arrived 🙂 • Empty and clean the refrigerator • Take all the food you brought with you • Clean the microwave and stove (remember to clean the oven trays) • Close the damper on the fireplace • Clean the toilet: wash the sinks, toilet bowl, mirror, and wipe the floor with a damp cloth • Clean the sauna and bathroom • Take out bed linens and mats, dust them • Arrange the beds neatly • Shake out the mats outside and place them back neatly • Wipe the floors with a damp cloth • Wash dirty dishes and put them in the cupboard • Take the trash to the outdoor waste bin • Put the furniture back in their places as they are in the listing • Report any deficiencies so we can keep the property in good condition Have a safe journey home.

Dishes

Wash all dirty dishes and put them in their proper places. Close the dishwasher's tap. Note: Never leave the dishwasher on when you leave!

Trash

Dispose of waste in the designated bins or at the village recycling point. Both Saariselkä and Ylläs have collection points for all waste categories.

Keys

When leaving, close the front door and make sure it is securely locked. Place the key in the same location in the key box as when you arrived. Finally, mix up the key box number sequence.

Have a safe travel

Drive or travel safely, and you are very welcome again 🙂

Something broke?
